Big data is no longer just a franchise of big business — nowadays, enterprises of all sizes stand to benefit from big business data. For large corporations, processing big data is a matter of deploying an entire department focused on breaking down swaths of operational information to draw out data that can help with strategic road mapping. For obvious reasons, small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) aren’t privy to this method of building data.
Smaller enterprises turn to enterprise resource planning (ERP) software like Dynamics 365 Business Central for their report-generation needs. Business Central takes the ERP game a step ahead of the competition by providing users with a powerful tool for gathering and analyzing business data: Intelligent Cloud Insights.
What is it?
Intelligent Cloud Insights is a Business Central feature that allows users to harness the power of cloud computing, machine learning (ML), and business intelligence (BI) to provide insights and drive suggested actions that help businesses grow.
This feature is fully cloud-based, so it doesn’t create added storage strains to your system while also allowing users to gain access to data across various platforms, including mobile.
What can it do for my business?
Intelligent Cloud Insights shows four key points of interest for most businesses, namely Cash Availability, Sales Profitability, Net Income, and Inventory Value. It also provides insights in simple terms, such as “Ten of your customers are late with their payments to you” or “Two invoices from vendors should be paid this week.”In a nutshell, it’s the result of the ERP churning out information on its own, watering down data to easy-to-absorb insights. This is perfect for business owners who don’t have a lot of time to spare for breaking down silos of data into workable, strategy-deciding reports.
How are users setup?
Users are created a new Intelligent Cloud user group and an Intelligent Cloud permission set as read-only. Once the intelligent cloud environment is configured, all users without SUPER permissions will be automatically assigned to the Intelligent Cloud user group. Only users with SUPER permissions will be allowed to make modifications to the system at this point (create new user groups and permissions sets and assign users accordingly.)
It’s important to make sure that at least one user in each company is assigned SUPER permissions.
